For me, it’s usually nice when an artist tells you why he or she picked a given song to play, what is reminds them of, or what inspired them to write it. Say what you like about the song.

As someone who grew up while these songs were popular, it seems to me that your set list is a tiny bit predictable. Each one of these songs, except for, perhaps, “Good Riddance” and “Runaway Train” has been overplayed for many, many years. (Especially “Hotel California”) I’d explore these artists a bit more and try to find some of their lesser known songs to resurrect.

That said, however, if you can pull off an interesting interpretation of any of them, something that causes us to re-think the song, it’s perfectly fine to play even the most tired and ordinary song. If its good, post the result on YouTube!
